Chapter 2124: Wolf In Sheep's Clothing.
If a godclad becomes stronger and gains more spiritual power, the boost from the mastery of the skill will only increase exponentially and it will be free. This is why gaining mastery of an ability is very important.
Increasing spiritual energy is simple and will cost money. But increasing the mastery of skill will only cost time and effort.
In the case where they are already spending money to buy energy water in order to increase their spiritual power, it will be prudent to spend the extra spiritual energy gained from energy water to train ability mastery too.
After all, the gain in spiritual energy from energy water is temporary. They will be wasting it if they don't use the temporary spiritual energy for nothing.
They don't like wastage normally. But when they have a way to increase the mastery of their divine abilities quickly, they have to practice their abilities with the extra spiritual energy.
Speaking of their innate ability, they already have 100% mastery of it. This can only be achieved when they know what their innate ability is and have used it to its limit.
With an innate ability at this level of mastery, they can use it to break the limit of a sequence and become godlings themselves. If they achieve that, they would be in the same league as the god of steam and the future god of electricity.
That is a long way in the future, though. Besides, they don't need to break new ground when they have the authority of the pathway of the undying. The road to godhood has already been paved for them. All they need to do is reach rank 9.
When they reach rank 9, they can finally begin to make full use of the Authority of the pathway of the undying. At that point, they will also be able to gain mastery of it. Currently, they lack the state of existence needed to achieve any sort of mastery greater than 0%.
They won't progress beyond 0% for the ultimate ability of the pathway of the undying. So they didn't bother with it at all. They have only activated it twice since they got it.
All in all, they have made good progress for 3 days. The progress didn't come cheap at all. It cost them the spiritual energy gained from their normal regeneration and that gained from the 10 liters of energy water.
They regenerate spiritual energy at a rate of 12 units every hour now. So they earned 288 units of spiritual energy in 24 hours, which accumulated to 864 units in three days.
As for the 10 liters of energy waters, they gained 1,000 units of spiritual energy from it. So in total, it cost them 1,864 units of spiritual energy to make a total progress of 14% in three days.
These numbers made Legion-5 lament and say, "If we can get a tank of spiritual energy to work with, we will be able to soar like birds with wings."
Legion-3 said, "In time, we will have such a day. We just have to wait."
Legion-8 sighed and said, "We can wait. We are no stranger to patience. But can ANNIHILATION wait?"
This question and its answer are why they cannot delay. They are in a race against time. If they wait too long, they will lose their chance to become an Absolute forever. So they have to be in a hurry.
With no more energy water to replenish their spirit, they decided to start work as lamp bearers and see if that will solve their need for energy water before they have to spend money to solve the problem. So they went to the base of the lamp bearers to report in.
As usual, they had to pass by the check point at the gate. But unlike before, the two godclads at the gate of the base didn't check him carefully.
Once he showed them the brand in his chest where the rune of the god of justice was, they allowed him to pass without an inspection. The brand showed that he was one of them, so there was snow need to suspect him of anything.
Their confidence lies in the fact that the brand is the foundation of the unity of lamp bearers. If they can't trust other lamp bearers, then they have no use working together.
Legion was able to pass the inspection quickly and easily. They had their own way to pass the inspection without a problem. But the free pass still pleased them.
They chuckled and thought to themselves as they entered the building, "Like wolf in sheep's clothing."
When they entered the building and stated their case to their fake boss upstairs, they were directed underground when they came to report for duty. Captain Sheckel wanted to meet them and assign them to a post.
Captain Sheckel looked normal. She had white hair and white eyes. She was the same as before.
The only difference that he noticed in her was that she had dark circles around her eyes. It seemed she hadn't been getting good sleep for a while.
It was a weird situation because godclads don't need sleep. Especially powerful ones. They can go days without sleep.
If a godclad needs to sleep, it is an indication of a tired mind or weakened spirit. This is a bad thing because it will open their mind up to temptation from the divine flesh.
Now she looked as if she was trying to sleep but failing to sleep; things couldn't be good with her. The more Legion looked at her, the more they felt that something was amiss with her.
They wanted to know more about her situation. They wanted to collect any information that might be useful to their plan, so they had the impulse to activate Mind Probe to take a look at her emotions.
But it was just an impulse by one of them. The impulse was quashed as soon as they felt it.
What do you think?
