Chapter 187 - 187: Dealing with the Shi’ar

[3rd POV]

With the news that the parents would officially be moving into her city, Gwen decided it was time to take care of the Shi'ar problem. Mostly the Emperor himself, as if she didn't, he would likely be back, and this time he would come with an entire armada. One that would catch the attention of Earth, and while she and her city would be protected by Earth, she wasn't ready to reveal it just yet.

Mostly because the Avengers would likely be sent up to talk with her, and she really didn't want to deal with Carol Danvers, not if she was anything like her comic self.

Flying through space towards the Shi'ar territories, Gwen was on her way to meet the Emperor himself. From what she knew, the Shi'ar Empire was currently going through a rather large civil war, one that was born from the Emperor's obsession with the Phoenix, and the news that the M'kraan crystal that had been only recently found by his sister Lilandra, was gone.

The two sides of this Civil war were the Emperor and his hardcore loyalists, and his sister, who wished to change the ways of the Empire. The Majestor was under the impression that the M'kraan crystal was the key to ultimate power, and believed that she had stolen it out from under him.

And after she had gone to the high council to argue over the decision to wage war against the Phoenix, and D'ken's obsession with the M'kraan crystal. Only to be detained by the man as he believed that she was conspiring against him. What came after was rumors regarding her potential assassination attempt against the man, and thus, started the Shi'ar civil war.

Gwen was currently on her way to this execution of Lilandra, in hopes of stopping it, and making her the Empress so that she won't need to worry about the Shi'ar again.

If she was able to save her and take care of D'Ken, then it was likely that Lilandra would then get chosen as the next Empress, therefore stopping all the headache that would have come otherwise. She could take the entire Shi'ar Empire by herself, but it would cause what was basically a never ending conflict with them, and she really didn't want to have to deal with that.

Flying, Gwen noticed that she was getting closer and closer to the planet that the M'kraan crystal had been held on, the one that the execution was going to take place over, for some reason.

'Seems I'll be there soon. The execution is supposed to happen any minute now, so I'll need to take care of the Emperor, for good' Gwen thought, as her figure blurred faster and faster, as her sight clearly showed that Lilandra was about to be killed.

With this in mind, she activated the speed force within her, disappearing with a burst of speed, moving well beyond the speed of light, as she reappeared with a crackle of electricity, not even a football field away from the ship that Lilandra was being executed on.

Seeing that she was this close, she smiled and teleported into the ship, only to raise an eyebrow at the D'Ken holding a large blade near Lilandra's neck, preparing to decapitate his own sister, ending her life for good.

"You know, I think this is a bit far, don't you?" Gwen asked, as all the individuals in the room turned to her with wide eyes, none more so than Gladiator, who growled upon realizing who she was.

"You! You're the one-" "Who knocked you and your little group out, yeah yeah I know. Look, I don't really like how you all are coming for Jean and the Phoenix within her, simply because of the actions of a previous host. So, I'm here to chat, but it seems that the Emperor or whatever, is not the one I should be doing it with, at least, not anymore" Gwen cut the man off, flicking her wrist as the blade is D'Kens hand melted with a small flex of magic.

"You!? You're the one who ruined me! You took that damned Phoenix host and caused this mess! My Empire is in a civil war because of you!" D'Ken roared in anger, as Gwen deadpanned.

"Dude, you were the one who started it all. I just took reparations for the attack, that's all. Now calm down before I make you, and trust me, no one in this room would be able to stop me" Gwen said, as she looked at Lilandra.

"I-I apologize for my brother's actions. I had warned him that they were foolish, but he did not listen to me. Had we known a being of your level was protecting the Phoenix, we never would have attacked you and your home" Lilandra said, trying to not show her fear before Gwen, as she believed Gwen to be some sort of cosmic or something of the sort.

Gwen wasn't anything like that...not really. She was close to that though.

"Not a problem. I'd just rather not have to keep dealing with your Empire if I can. Now, what should I do with your brother? I don't know if you can tell, but he is very obviously not mentally well" Gwen said, pointing to the raving man who was screaming in fury at being ignored. Gwen had put up a sound proof barrier around the man, so no one could even hear him at that point.

"...I can see that" Lilandra said with a sweatdrop as her brother snarled and launched towards Gwen, only for her to backhand him, teeth flying as he was slapped into unconsciousness. The others in the area wanted to attack, only for Lilandra to glare at them, shaking her head, warning them not to even try it.

'Huh...seems me beating the snot out of Gladiator might have worked better than I was expecting. And here I was hoping that I'd go to war with the Shi'ar and take them over or something. Guess this is for the best though, because now I can dedicate all my time to Malzif and recruiting mutants' Gwen thought, pleased with this outcome.

"Alright then, let's get this off of you" Gwen said, reaching out and gripping the constraints that were holding Lilandra, shattering them with a singular flex of her strength.

"Thank you very much, miss...?" "Gwen, just call me Gwen" Gwen finished, holding her hand out and pulling Lilandra up, the woman giving her a nod as she did so.

"May I ask why you are helping me?" Lilandra asked.

"Sure, it's because you are much more reasonable than your brother. I could see you becoming the Empress after this...situation, and I'd much rather work with an Empress like you than an Emperor like him" Gwen replied with a shrug, as it was true.

"...Thank you" Lilandra said, as Gwen looked around.

"Well alright then! That's all I've come here to do. To talk to you and make sure you understand that the Phoenix Host is under my protection, and I'd rather not have to come back down here and deal with your Empire because you all tried something against her and my city again" Gwen said, as the woman nodded rapidly.

"Understood Gwen, the Shi'ar Empire will make that Solar system a no fly zone. None shall be allowed to travel through that space, and should they, they will be dubbed as traitors. I trust that will be enough?" Lilandra asked, as Gwen blinked at the response before smiling, pleased.

"More than enough, thank you Lilandra. Ah, and good luck on being chosen!" Gwen said, giving the woman a wave before walking off, ready to get back home, one thought on her mind as she did so.

'...That was easy'

That's the end of the Chapter!

So that is the "End" of the Shi'ar stuff for a while, as I decided an entire arc dedicated to them is just kinda...a waste of time to be honest. So instead, we'll be doing a lot of multiverse traveling in this next "Malzif Recruitment Arc" including interacting with some AU characters and more.

The next arc after that will be when the story really starts to come together.
