Rise of the Rejected Deity from Chaos

Chapter 187 186: About to be Busted Again???

Im Seun gazed at the man in stunned silence, speechless at his assertiveness. However, he couldn't afford to let the man have his way—not when he had himself to protect.

"I'm sorry commander…" Im Seun spoke, his tone bold, rising from his seat. "..but I cannot take down the village's barrier just yet."

The commander paused, turning to face Im Seun. "Why?" He asked, face rigid.

"Because I do not know if the villagers would want to meet the association just yet," he replied. "Before taking down that barrier and taking you to the villagers, I need to first consult them. I'm sorry," Im Seun stated, walking toward the door.

"And when will you do that?" The commander asked.

"Since it's already late, I might find some time to do it tomorrow, but I can't guarantee anything."

"You'll have to guarantee it because time is not on our side. I look forward to a response regarding this tomorrow. Have a good night," the commander smiled at him.

Speechless, Im Seun slightly bowed, his body barely curving before he turned and left the office.

"He's quite complicated but meticulous," the commander remarked, plumping back on his chair.

Outside the office, along the hallways, Im Seun angrily stormed down. Blinded by whatever had upset him, he failed to pay attention to his surroundings.

As he stormed forward, engrossed in his worry, and not looking forward, he bumped into a figure—Seiya.

Im Seun staggered back, almost falling to his butt due to how hard he had collided with the person before him. Regaining his balance, Im Seun lifted his gaze with an expression twisted in anger, meeting Seiya's covered face.

"You!" He gritted, his jaw clenched together with visible veins bulging across it.

I've somehow landed myself in trouble with no way to take down that barrier, yet this good for nothing brat has the nerve to block my way!

"You low life idiot, are you blind?!" Im Seun spat, his anger evident. "Well, you might be since you have some stupid mask hiding your ugly face!"

Im Seun stepped forward, his face tight with rage and frustration. "Move!" He yelled, roughly pushing Seiya aside to make his way forward.

"Idiot," he cursed, walking away. Getting a fair distance away from Seiya, Im Seun slowed down a bit, examining the hand with which he pushed Seiya out of the way.

"He felt strong," he said, folding and unfolding his hand. Im Seun wrapped a hand around his arm, gently massaging it. "He also felt like a brick wall when I bumped into him," he said, a bit puzzled.

Isn't that odd for a mere child? He thought to himself as he upped his pace. And as much as he was curious, his situation gave no room for that—he decided to focus on his own problems.

Seiya watched him go, unbothered. He was only coming to ask for food as it was already dinner time when Im Seun bumped into him.

Seiya had seen him coming, and could've easily gotten out of the way but he didn't, because Im Seun wasn't paying attention while walking, and Seiya felt no need to be the one that moved out of the way.

As Seiya remained silent and watched him go, Ibyu quipped from within, {Don't add him to your kill list.}

"I was simply thinking about it," Seiya replied nonchalantly.

{Don't!}

Seiya sighed, turning back, and continuing on his way. "They better process my ID as soon as possible," he muttered under his breath.

With a single knock on the door, and not waiting for a response, Seiya pushed open the office's door and made his way in.

Both the commander and his assistant were a bit taken aback, because never before had anyone entered the office without permission from the commander. But as soon as the commander saw Seiya, he realized he had lost track of time, and knew exactly what brought Seiya to his office.

The commander's assistant wanted to make an issue of Seiya's sudden entrance, but before he could speak, the commander spoke. "I'm sorry," he said.

"I was so preoccupied with things that I didn't even know it was almost past dinner time. I'm still busy with things, so you can go ahead and eat without me today," he said, and turned to his assistant.

"Get him his meal," he ordered, and the assistant bowed.

Without another word, Seiya turned and left. After all, he hadn't come because he wanted a meal together with the commander, but to tell them he wanted to eat.

Seiya had his meal alone that evening, and of course, the commander's assistant was rough when serving the meal. But Seiya had his meal in silence, ignoring the assistant—something he very well knows to do best.

Seiya didn't want to jeopardize their plans of him getting an ID. Surely, killing the assistant when things haven't gone according to plan will put a rift, so he had to hold back.

After eating, Seiya retired to the chambers. He took off the mask, leaving only the blindfold on as usual before lying on the bed.

He relaxed his muscles, clearing everything off his mind—not that he had much to think about—and before long, he drifted to sleep.

Back in the commander's office, he sat in his usual spot, and before him stood a matured looking man—a captain—one among those the commander had previously summoned, and handed over the mission of protecting a high ranking person.

"You're saying the mission had been called off by the very person who commissioned it?" The commander asked, a bit puzzled by the report the man had brought to him.

"Yes sir. When we reached out to him to handle the matter, he said he already hired someone else and our help won't be needed anymore," the man said, standing firm and upright before the commander.

How can that be? The commander thought to himself. Who else can he hire if not someone from the association?
