Reborn as a Succubus: Time To Live My Best Life!

Chapter 320 320: The Artifact, Part Sixteen

Melisa jerked awake, her breasts heaving and sweat coating her body.

She clutched at her throat, the phantom sensation of a massive cock still lingering there.

"What the actual fuck," she whispered into the darkness of her bedroom.

The dream had been so vivid, so real. Probably because it wasn't actually a dream at all. She could absolutely see it being real.

She'd been Isabella. Again, not just watching her, but being her. Kneeling before Kimiko, her cock-hungry mouth stretched wide as her mother face-fucked her.

"More, more," Isabella had begged between thrusts. "Fuck my throat, Mom!"

And Kimiko had obliged, grabbing Isabella's pink hair and ramming her length down her daughter's eager throat. Isabella had practically worshipped that cock, her eyes glazed with lust as she choked and gagged and loved every second of it.

Melisa could still taste it. Still feel the weight of Kimiko's balls slapping against her chin. Still hear Isabella's muffled moans of ecstasy.

[But that wasn't me,] she thought, shaking her head vigorously. [That was Isabella's memory.]

And, well, what that meant was fairly clear.

The Memory Snare's influence was spreading.

"Great," Melisa muttered, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. "As if my life wasn't complicated enough."

She glanced at the window. Still dark outside, but with hints of pre-dawn gray at the horizon. That special time that was a little too early to be awake, but tragically too late to try sleeping again. It didn't matter, though, she doubted she could sleep after what she'd just experienced, her hand rubbing her throat again.

More importantly, she couldn't stop thinking about what she'd discovered yesterday at the marketplace. A Shadow Mage had infiltrated the palace guard, close enough to Queen Aria to pose a serious threat. Melisa needed to warn her.

[But how? "Hey, Your Majesty, there's a traitor among your guards. How do I know? Oh, I just casually saw one of your guards in a fruit vendor's memory that I accessed with a forbidden magical artifact."]

She sighed and began dressing. There was no point in delaying. She'd come up with something on the way.

---

Getting into the palace was easier than expected. Melisa simply told the guards at the gate that she had urgent information for the queen regarding yesterday's academy visit. Her previous interactions with Aria got her through with minimal questioning, though they did first check with Aria of course.

Now she stood outside the queen's study, rehearsing explanations in her head while a stern-faced guard, not the one she'd seen in the vendor's memory, thankfully, announced her presence.

"Her Majesty will see you now," the guard said, opening the door.

Aria sat behind a massive oak desk, looking surprisingly casual in a simple blue dress rather than her formal royal attire. Her white hair was pulled back in a loose braid, and she appeared to have been in the middle of reviewing a stack of miscellaneous documents.

[The boring part of being queen, huh.]

"Miss Blackflame," she said, setting aside a parchment. "This is an unexpected pleasure. What brings you to the palace so early in the day?"

Melisa bowed, trying to project confidence despite her nerves.

"Your Majesty, I apologize for the intrusion, but I've discovered something that couldn't wait."

Aria's expression sharpened.

"Go on."

"There's a traitor among your palace guards. A Shadow Mage."

The queen's face remained impressively neutral, but Melisa caught the slight widening of her eyes.

"That's a serious accusation," Aria said carefully. "What evidence do you have?"

Melisa had prepared for this question during her walk to the palace.

"I overheard a conversation at the marketplace yesterday. A vendor was being blackmailed into helping trap me, and he mentioned a palace guard who works with the Shadow Mages. A man with a scar across his left cheek."

It was a detail she'd glimpsed in the vendor's memory.

"I see." Aria's fingers drummed once on the desk, then stilled. "And you came directly to me with this information?"

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Why?"

The question caught Melisa off guard.

"Because... you're the queen? And because I thought you should know there are dangerous people close to you?"

"Most would go to the captain of the guard with such information," Aria pointed out. "Or to one of my advisors."

"With all due respect, Your Majesty, how would I know which of them to trust?"

A smile flickered briefly across Aria's face.

"A fair point, Miss Blackflame." She stood, moving to a window that overlooked the palace gardens. "The guard you described... I know who he is. He joined the palace guard three months ago with exemplary recommendations."

"Too perfect recommendations, maybe?" Melisa suggested.

"Perhaps." Aria turned back to face her. "I've suspected that there's still some amount of infiltration for some time, but lacked concrete evidence. Tell me, what else did you overhear about this plot?"

Melisa hesitated, then decided to share what she could without revealing her nebulous source.

"The Shadow Mages are still active in Syux, despite the arrests after the rebellion. They've been blackmailing people into helping them, targeting nim who might cause trouble... like me."

"You do seem to have a talent for finding trouble," Aria observed dryly.

"It's more like trouble finds me," Melisa protested.

Aria's lips quirked in amusement.

"Indeed." She moved back to her desk. "Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'll handle it personally, and with discretion."

"You believe me then?"

"Your information aligns with certain... suspicions I've already had," Aria replied. "But I'm curious, why would Shadow Mages still target you specifically? Don't they know any better by now?"

[Probably because they absolutely despise me because I killed a bunch of them?]

Aloud, Melisa said:

"I'm not sure, Your Majesty."

Aria studied her with those cool gray eyes.

"You never fail to be... quite the curiosity, Miss Blackflame."

Was that approval in her voice? Suspicion? Melisa couldn't tell.

She reached out, placing her hand on Melisa's shoulder.

"Perhaps we should speak again sometime soon. More... casually, I mean," she smiled.

It was hard to focus on her words though given that the world tilted abruptly.

Aria was alone in her royal bedchamber, the midnight hour casting long shadows across the luxurious room. She lay atop silk sheets, her nightgown hitched up around her waist, her small breasts exposed to the cool air.

Her eyes were closed, her lips parted in silent pleasure as her fingers worked between her legs with practiced precision.

"Yes," she whispered to the empty room. "Just like that..."

Her other hand pinched a nipple, rolling it between slender fingers. Her breath came faster, her back arching slightly off the bed.

"Melisa," she breathed, barely audible. "Melisa, please..."

The memory cut off abruptly, leaving Melisa standing in the queen's study, her mouth suddenly dry and her face burning hot.

"Miss Blackflame?" Aria's voice sounded concerned. "Are you unwell? You seem flushed."

Melisa blinked rapidly, trying to process what she'd just seen. The Queen of Syux, touching herself... while saying Melisa's name?

"I'm fine," she managed to say. "Just... didn't sleep well last night."

[That's the understatement of the century.]

"Perhaps you should return to the academy and rest," Aria suggested, her hand falling away from Melisa's shoulder. "I appreciate your vigilance in bringing this matter to my attention."

"Of course, Your Majesty." Melisa bowed, desperate to hide her burning face. "I'll take my leave."

"One more thing, Miss Blackflame."

Melisa paused at the door.

"Yes?"

Aria's expression was unreadable.

"Be careful. If the Shadow Mages are targeting you again, they likely won't stop at one failed attempt."

"I'll be careful," Melisa promised.

As the door closed behind her, Melisa leaned against the wall, her heart pounding. First Isabella and Kimiko in her dreams, and now this? The Memory Snare was getting seriously out of control.

But Aria had been saying her name. Her name. While pleasuring herself in the dark of night.

[No, no, no, no! Shove that shit out of your head, Mel. People masturbate to people they don't care about all the time. It doesn't mean anything!]

She pushed off from the wall and headed toward the palace exit, her mind racing with far too many thoughts. The Memory Snare was affecting her dreams. The Shadow Mages were still actively targeting her specifically. And Queen Aria apparently had some very interesting private moments.

Javir's warning echoed in her head:

"Something of them stays with you."

Well, Isabella's cock-sucking skills and Aria's masturbation habits were definitely staying with her, that was for sure.
