Two days passed.

Ling Tian did some investigation on his own and soon he had an inkling about who did it.

But that troubled him. There is no solid proof against the elder and he even had an alibi ready. The other elders are also implying their support to the elder.

This pissed him off.

Sam did cause a lot of trouble for the Gambler academy, but he recovered most of the favor during the inter academy tournament. However, the aftermath of Sam's rampage in the conquest is a bit too much for the gambler academy members to handle.

At least, the students were a bit okay with it.

But the elders took it to their heart. Maybe its because of their own incompetence, or because of their limited world view, they aren't able to digest being targeted for the things a second grader did.

There was a lot of discontent particularly after the stunt Sam pulled in the Divine Beast Graveyard.

Now that Sam's condition isn't looking good, they are even more hesitant about this.

Meanwhile, Dove and Wharton who got the news came back and they were waiting on Sam along with Ling Tian.

"Is he going to be okay?

Other elders are saying he might not recover." Dove asked Ling Tian.

"He will recover. This wasn't the first time he was in such a devastating state. His recovery isn't even my concern right now."

"But the elders said his will power should be unnaturally strong for him to get up. The residual divine energy of an elder level attack… even I will have some trouble dealing with that."

"Don't worry about it. He will get well soon.

My current worry is not about his recovery. Its about the elder who did this.

I don't have enough evidence to nail him. If I take him down by force, the other elders might rebel."

Dove was confused.

"Since when did Gambler academy become like other academies? We can just put him through the test. We are always judged individually, there is no place for politics in our academy."

"Ever since this guy popped up.

Its not that I don't want to use force, but… I can't. Things are different now. If I make a move on an elder rashly, things will go really wrong."

That was also one of Ling Tian's worries. Right now, even though he is here in the academy as an elder, technically his position was something else. He was already bending the game rules a lot by being an elder here.

If he takes revenge for what happened to Sam…

The gods on the other end will start using this to their advantage. Gambler gave him strict orders about that.

'Incompetence'

'Gross Incompetence.'

'You Incompetent idiot.'

Those words rang inside Sam's head. While his body was ravaged, his soul was intact. He couldn't hear or sense anything in the surroundings, but he is conscious enough to know what's happening in his own body.

And he kept on repeating what happened inside his head.

The attack, where it came from, the energy signature of that divine energy… he remembered everything and he felt disgusted at himself for being hit by it.

'I have gone complacent.'

'I have gone soft'

He muttered to himself and anger bubbled up. He felt a bit suffocated and his breath became restricted. All of a sudden…

"AAHHHH…."

With a huge breath, Sam opened his eyes. He tried his best to breathe in as if he was deprived of air for hours.

His whole body hurt and he couldn't move. He was barely able to take deep breaths and moved his mouth. That's about it.

Ling Tian stood up and checked up on him.

"Don't stress yourself. You are fine. You are fine."

He tried to calm Sam down. He thought he would be carrying the same state of mind right before he became unconscious. But one look at Sam and he knew he was wrong.

"Where am I?"

"You are in your own dorm. I have been taking care of you for the past two days."

Sam nodded and closed his eyes. He checked his own body. His spiritual core is cracked up. Divine energy is leaking out. It is healing, but it was very slow.

He gritted his teeth and forced his energy to enter the formation surrounding him. It hurt like hell. But he didn't care.

"What the hell are you doing? Calm down."

Dove screamed at him, worried that he might just harm himself. But Ling Tian stopped her. He is all too familiar with Sam's abilities and he knew what was happening.

Sam used his observation skill.

He was checking up on the healing formation around.

"Deactivate the formation. It will take forever for me to recover here. Bring me to the hub."

"Are you sure?"

Ling Tian asked.

"I can fix myself in an hour. Just send me there. I got shit to do."

Ling Tian pursed his lips and was about to make a move, but Sam waved his hand and a transference token came out of it.

"Use this."

Ling Tian used it and both of them arrived inside the hub.

The energy of the hub connected with Sam's mind. He was levitating without Ling Tian's intervention. The hub is his space after all and he had no restrictions there.

Even Ling Tian felt a bit restricted there.

They were in the central room.

Sam floated his toward the secret room and entered one of the chambers. This one was the chamber of vitality.

Ling Tian didn't know what was happening to Sam's body inside the chamber. He was surprised that Sam even let him into such a secret room.

But after an hour and ten minutes, Sam came out of the chamber. He was able to walk out. But there was another problem.

"The divine energy corruption… It didn't wear off. How did you fix your body?"

"Excessive rapid regeneration."

"Is that supposed to explain anything?"

"I don't give a shit. It will take a couple of days for me to recover fully.

In these two days… I have somethings to look into."

With a snap of his fingers, both Sam and Ling Tian disappeared from the hub and landed in front of the hub's gate.

He slowly started walking towards the Gambler academy.

Ling Tian looked at him and felt a trepidation. He wanted Sam to lash out or kick up a fuss. If he is this calm. Not even mentioning the attack…

It made him feel anxious.

So, he decided to go and bring it up himself.
