74: Chapter 74 Lu Youting, You’re Really Shameless 74: Chapter 74 Lu Youting, You’re Really Shameless His mood interrupted, Lu Youting’s face clouded with a layer of coldness, “What are you doing?”
Jian Si straightened her clothes and fastened the buttons furiously, glaring at Lu Youting as tears swirled in her eyes, “Lu Youting, you are truly shameless.
Do you really find pleasure in humiliating me repeatedly, making me lose all self-respect?”
Lu Youting’s mind was foggy, the alcohol impairing his ability to think clearly.
He didn’t understand; everything was fine just moments ago, and now she had changed again.
“What are you talking about?”
Jian Si grabbed his collar, turning the lipstick mark towards him, “Look at this!
Just a second ago, you were flirting with another woman, and now you’re sweet-talking me.
Lu Youting, I must have water in my brain to forget the pain you’ve caused me, to be deceived by you!
I’m telling you, don’t you dare touch me again, or I’ll cripple you.”
She turned to leave the hospital room.
Lu Youting grabbed her wrist in a swift move, a hint of irritation crossing his face, “It’s not what you think.”
Jian Si felt he was filthy.
The hand holding hers, who knows how many women it had touched.
She felt her self-respect was brutally trampled and humiliated, and she also blamed herself for being weak, for forgetting the damage he had done because of his recent kindness.
“I only know that if two people aren’t close together, lipstick wouldn’t get on a collar!
Lu Youting, don’t touch me, I’m disgusted!”
Jian Si forcefully shook his hand off and, ignoring his attempts to stop her, she went to the neighboring hospital room.
The room was pitch-dark, and because of the angle, Lu Youting couldn’t make out the stain on the collar.
After Jian Si stormed off in anger, Lu Youting took off his shirt and his handsome face darkened upon seeing the lipstick mark, fist crunching.
He took the shirt intending to find Jian Si and explain.
But she shut herself in the hospital room, indifferent to his knocks on the door.
Helpless, Lu Youting could only go back to his room, the clothing in his hands growing more glaringly offensive until he finally crumpled it up and threw it into the trash can.
Due to this unhappy confrontation, their relation, which had just started to mend, regressed to square one.
Jian Si didn’t fight with him, but she ignored him completely, treating him as if he were invisible.
Lu Youting felt wronged, a lump of anger trapped in his chest.
“It’s not what you saw.”
Jian Si coldly said, “It doesn’t matter what it is, it has nothing to do with me!
We are already divorced.
I don’t have the right to control you.
You can be with whomever you want, it’s none of my business.”
Lu Youting’s fingers and temples began to tremble, his frosty eyes glaring at her as his chest heaved.
Though he was furious, he still didn’t want Jian Si to misunderstand him, and tried to be patient as he explained, “This was Gu Yuchen’s prank, I didn’t…”
Before he could finish, Jian Si slammed the cup she was holding onto the bedside table, a crisp sound resonating.
“I said, this has nothing to do with me, you don’t need to explain to me.”
Lu Youting’s body was enveloped by a harsh pressure of both ice and fire, and feeling a fury that made him want to flip a table, seeing that she remained unyielding, he stopped explaining and left angrily.
“Bang.”
The hospital room door was slammed shut, the loud noise venting his inner rage, seemingly causing the ceiling to tremble as well.
Jian Si ‘hah’ed and laughed out of irritation.
It was his fault, yet he had the audacity to lose his temper.
What an attitude?
If someone’s going to make amends, they should at least show some sincerity.
She must have been out of her mind, to almost fall for him again yesterday.
As she was fuming, her phone suddenly rang.
The call was from Ji Mingche.
She recalled their agreement and answered the phone with an apologetic face, “Ah Che, I’m sorry.
I’ve been quite busy recently, so I forgot to reach out to you.”
Ji Mingche teased, “Do you think I look like someone who’s missing a meal?”
Jian Si’s face instantly turned red with embarrassment, “Uh, then… then you are…”
Ji Mingche laughed, unable to speak, “We haven’t seen each other for over a decade, and you are the only friend I have in Jiangcheng.
Can’t we meet sometimes, besides apologizing over meals?”
Jian Si suddenly realized.
All her thoughts were on her child now, indeed she hadn’t thought about that.
She said hurriedly, “The day after tomorrow, do you have time?
I’ll go with you to buy clothes.
You mentioned last time that you have nothing to wear.”
“OK!” Ji Mingche agreed happily, his tone shifted to concern, “How is Xiao Bai’s heart surgery going?
I was afraid to disturb you while you were taking care of him.”
Jian Si replied, “There were some complications; the surgery has been postponed!”
Ji Mingche respected her and did not continue to inquire.
He added, “I saw the news yesterday.
Your ex-husband, Lu Youting, and Miss Ye have called off their engagement.
I heard rumors that it was because Miss Ye had someone hit you.
Is that true?
Are you alright?”
The two had been friends since childhood and had grown up together, so Jian Si didn’t hide the details and shared the rough events.
Ji Mingche was so furious that he almost smashed the phone.
“That woman is so malicious.
Are you okay?
Are you staying at Jiangcheng Hospital?
Which room?
I’ll come visit you.”
Jian Si was about to refuse, but Ji Mingche sensed her intention and asserted, “If you still call me ‘Brother,’ then don’t refuse.”
Jian Si smiled helplessly and agreed, telling him her room number.
He came very quickly, and in less than half an hour, he appeared in the hospital corridor holding a bunch of Blue Demons, coincidentally bumping into Lu Youting.
Ji Mingche grinned and greeted him politely, “Director Lu, hello!
I am…”
He was about to introduce himself when Lu Youting interrupted him, “We’ve met.
You’re Ji Mingche, the ‘Ah Che Brother’ Jian Si talks about.”
His tone was sour, as if he had swallowed several barrels of vinegar.
Ji Mingche, feigning ignorance of his hostility, smiled warmly.
“I heard Sisi was sick, so I wanted to come see her.
I’ll leave you be now!”
With that, he pushed open the door to Jian Si’s room, holding the Blue Demon.
Whether intentional or not, he did not close the room door behind him.
Seeing the big bunch of Blue Demons in his hand, Jian Si smiled, her eyes squinting into lines, “Ah Che Brother, it’s been over a decade, yet you still remember I like Blue Demon.”
Ji Mingche tenderly said, “Your preferences are etched in my mind.
I will never forget in this lifetime.”
“I knew Ah Che Brother was the most caring person I have.
I’ll find a vase to put them in.” Jian Si did not find anything inappropriate in her statement and smiled happily.
However, the words sounded different to Lu Youting’s ears.
A gloomy aura exploded from him; he involuntarily clenched his fist, barely restraining the urge to burst in and beat Ji Mingche, his eyes like a hawk’s, unblinkingly staring at Jian Si as if a wild beast on the hunt.
Ji Mingche continued to smile warmly at Jian Si.
After she put the Blue Demon in the vase, he reached out to wipe the water droplets off her face.
They were both in their twenties, yet still so frisky, her face and body covered in water.
Jian Si playfully stuck out her tongue, “Just like you said, it’s a habit etched into the bones, hard to change.”
Ji Mingche gave her a stern look, “Making excuses!”
Jian Si puffed her cheeks, defiantly saying, “I’m telling the truth!”
Ji Mingche, full of indulgence, said, “Okay, okay, it’s the truth, happy now?
Ever since we were little, whatever you said has always been it.
When have I ever argued?”
Jian Si laughed, “Yes, yes, I know you treat me the best!
I’ll treat you to lunch!”
“I didn’t come here for food!” said Ji Mingche, straightening her body and examining her swollen face earnestly, “Show me, where are you hurt?
Besides your face, any other places?”
“Also…” Jian Si moved her hand to her collar, preparing to show him the injury on her collarbone when a figure suddenly rushed in, grabbed her hand, and glared at her with bloodshot eyes, like an angry lion.
What do you think?
