Chapter 743: Naoto's Decision

"Oh! Hiro won his first major European title?"

In the Shibuya crosswalk, a man dressed in black with a sleep-deprived look yawned while glancing at the LED screen.

The LED screen displayed the highlights of the Copa Del Rey finals.

"Didn't you watch the match?"

"How could I? My boss wouldn't let me go home."

Besides them, many other individuals were also paying attention to the screen. Even though these individuals wouldn't care about the content of the screen usually, right now they were attentively staring at it.

"Argh… If only that devil allowed me to leave, I wouldn't have missed the game. I guess… Huff! I'll have to make do with the highlights again…"

The scene around other parts of Japan was quite similar. Most of the people were gossiping about the match.

Hiro's performance left a dazzling impression on the people of Japan.

In a certain field, a bunch of kids were playing football.

"Goal…"

"Didn't I just score like Hiro?" one of the kids beamed excitedly after scoring a goal from a free kick.

"You jest."

"Hiro's shot has much more impact. With such a weak-ass shot, you dare say you scored like Hiro?"

Coach Makoto, dressed in a tracksuit watched the ongoing match from the sidelines.

"It's quite lively here, isn't it?"

A rather cheerful voice echoed from behind him.

Makoto's time-worn face revealed a delighted smile as he turned around to face the person, "Ah… What brings you here, Naoto?"

Naoto dressed casually beamed a bright smile, "I just wanted to experience this scene again. Also, it's good to see you, coach."

"It's good to see you too, Naoto," Makoto smiled before heaving a deep sigh, "Huff! A person tends to miss things at the time of departure."

Naoto's smile faded as he heard him.

"Yeah," He nodded.

"But it's quite surprising that you want to leave, Naoto. I thought you didn't want to move abroad. So, what made you change your mind now?" Makoto couldn't help but inquire.

He was familiar with Naoto.

Makoto had seen his upbringing from a bright prospect to the first-choice keeper of Kawasaki. As much as he could tell, Naoto wasn't the ambitious type.

Hence, he couldn't help but feel curious about his sudden decision to leave.

Initially, the club was reluctant to let him leave. After all, he had been performing well and was their first-choice keeper.

To lose an asset like him on short notice, the club didn't want that to happen.

However, seeing his reluctance and the soon-to-be-ending contract period, the club had to bend to his will.

"I know I announced my leave on short notice. I shouldn't have done that… But," Naoto stared deeply at the field, his eyes glistening, "would you believe me if I said I'm afraid?"

"Huh?" Makoto couldn't comprehend the meaning.

Naoto's frown deepened for a short moment before his expression eased up. Then he turned to look at Makoto, his eyes radiating with gentleness.

"I don't want to get left behind, coach."

Makoto could comprehend what he was trying to convey. He couldn't help but feel delighted. He always believed that Naoto could achieve great things in life.

However, he lacked the ambition to do so.

Unlike Hiro who seemed to be radiating with ambition, Naoto lacked ambition to challenge new peaks. He believed this was limiting his progress.

But now that he had finally decided to break out of his shell, he couldn't help but grin.

His heart swelled with emotion.

He stared deeply at Naoto, "You made the correct decision."

"Thank you, sir." Naoto bowed.

"But he really did it, didn't he?" Makoto mumbled proudly.

Naoto knew who he was talking about.

"Yeah, I thought he would struggle a bit at first. But I think I was underestimating him," Naoto smiled.

"Yeah, I too thought the same. While others took time to adapt, he adapted right away. Even for him, I think it's quite impressive," Makoto turned to look at the pitch, his heart swelled with pride. "I knew he was cut above the average. I could tell he would achieve great things in life. But who'd have thought he'd swept the entire world in chaos like this?"

"Copa Del Rey in his first season with the club. They also are the favorites to win La Liga. If they manage to win the next game, the league is as good as theirs. That's already two major European titles for him."

"It's already an exceptional feat to win a domestic double in his first season at the club. But to top it all, he could also clutch a European Treble. Truly a fairy-tale start of a legendary career in the making."

"Indeed," Makoto couldn't help but nod. "But when's the final of the Champions League?"

"It's June 3rd, sir."

"June 3rd, huh… PSG is a tough opponent to face. No matter who wins, a new champion will be crowned. So, both teams will need to prepare thoroughly," Makoto mumbled, his brows knitted.

The two conversed for a while before Naoto departed, leaving Makoto with the kids.

The streets of Madrid were bustling, the energy palpable.

A swarm of people clad in the colors of Atletico Madrid had swarmed the streets. These people were buzzing with excitement, their faces beaming with a bright smile.

On the road, a parade bus advanced slowly under the protection of the local police.

The players of Atletico stood on the bus with triumphant smiles on their faces. The Copa Del Rey trophy rested at the forefront of the bus.

Looking at the sea of supporters who have taken the street by storm, Hiro couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Though parading around the street wasn't a new thing to him, the energy he could feel from this place couldn't be compared to the ones he had seen before.

The chime of music and the cheers of supporters blended in perfect harmony to create an atmosphere beyond comprehension.

As if a carnival was taking place, the atmosphere around the streets of Madrid was quite festive.

However, since most of Madrid was dominated by Real Madrid supporters, they only had a handful of places they could parade.
