She lay there with her eyes closed, resting, and when the drowsiness hit, she faintly heard the sound of the door opening, but couldn’t be bothered to open her eyes.
Until she was suddenly picked up.
“What time is it, and you’re still sleeping?” The voice was neither light nor heavy in her ear.
She hadn’t actually slept for long; the shock and jostling from before, plus walking all the way back, made her so tired she didn’t even want to move a finger.
But she could only swallow the bitterness herself; she uttered a soft “hmm,” and continued to lean on Gu Annan, “Haven’t woken up yet.”
The mumbling was particularly gentle and soft, it felt to him as if a small paw had suddenly seized his heart.
