Chapter 109: Woman’s Wrath
Chapter 109 - Woman's Wrath
"...so I recommend you take the Mint Surprise; it packs quite the punch, and the taste is real good too," said Jack, sitting at the bar counter.
He was currently trying to talk to Cyril in a friendly way, sharing some advice and whatnot.
They put the bodies at the tables nearby; the students were lying face down, resting without a care.
Tigris, however, already woke up.
As an apology, Jack personally poured him some milk to drink, which the tiger graciously accepted.
Morpho was drinking some sugar water not far away.
"What are you going to do about Emily?" Interrupted Cyril.
Everyone else started paying attention here as well, their faces filled with curiosity.
Jack awkwardly scratched his hair. "I don't know. Let her calm down and talk it out some time later. Just take her away for now; I'll think about it."
"You are such a coward. Your sister finally found you after all this time, and this is your response?" Katherine said with disdain.
"Hey, it's my family, not yours." Jack shrugged without any shame.
Katherine turned away from him after sneering.
"Let's finish it here, everyone," calmly said Kenneth at this moment.
He turned towards Cyril with a polite smile. "We are meeting here tomorrow as agreed. Wear something that's easy to move in."
Cyril nodded without any problems.
After a few more goodbyes, Jack, Katherine, Kenneth, and a downcast Gethyn went back inside.
Now all Cyril had to do was wake up his fellow students.
How could they be sleeping for so long?
...
"...No!" Emily woke up with a yell, looking around in a fluster.
She immediately noticed Cyril standing right in front of her. He finally managed to wake her up.
"What happened?" Emily asked with confusion. Her thoughts were still somewhat muddy.
"Your brother put you to sleep with a spell." Cyril quickly explained and went to wake up Cedric at the side.
He stood in front of the unconscious man and shook him.
If only I had mastered the technique better...
Cyril briefly considered Selene's method—she could manipulate mana with such precision that she could safely alter part of an opponent's brain.
In this situation, she probably could've awakened them both with a single jab.
Emily, in the meantime, held her head with a tired expression. It's like all her spirits left her.
Eventually Cedric woke up as well, opening his eyes and stretching like just after a nap.
After a few seconds he caught on to what happened and made a bitter smile.
"Well, at least your brother is healthy. I think today was a good start," he said to Emily in an optimistic manner.
Emily only nodded and got up from the chair, going towards the door.
The others followed after her.
"Please, come again!" waved them goodbye the bartender.
...
The sky outside was covered with clouds, and the sun was completely obscured; it looked like it would rain any second.
"What fitting weather~"
"Emily, cheer up. It's not the end of the world. From what Cyril told us, I think Jack still cares about you." Cedric hurriedly followed Emily.
She was walking fast in no particular direction, away from this place.
Cyril calmly followed after them. Tigris and Morpho back on his shoulders.
"Shut up, Cedric! Not everyone is so damn happy-go-lucky as you!" Emily yelled back in frustration.
Cedric's face twitched for a moment, and he no longer spoke, only walking after her at a distance with a concerned expression.
Eventually she reached an unpopulated square, and she sat down on the bench, hiding her face.
Emily sat like this, unmoving and not saying anything.
Cedric only walked close and stood a bit to the side, still staying silent.
"So much drama. Can't she just get over it?" Rhamn didn't understand what was up with this girl.
"I mean, it's no big deal. Her brother just went to find his own family. It's a natural thing, isn't it?"
I guess she doesn't like the fact that in the process, Jack completely cut ties with her.
After a few minutes passed, Cedric cautiously opened his mouth. "So what if he evaded talking to you by putting you to sleep? That doesn't mean anything; don't give up just yet!"
"Cyril, say something too. What else have you heard from Jack?" He asked with a hopeful stare.
Cyril almost froze, feeling like he was caught eavesdropping.
I'll try...
He decided to give this a go.
"I have a feeling Jack still cares about you," Cyril speculated with his arms crossed.
These words finally caused Emily to raise her head with a bit of hope in her eyes.
Her weak look, which seemed to be screaming for support, appeared somehow annoying to Cyril at this moment.
He frowned and changed his words a little. "Anyhow, why do you give up so easily? Jack just lightly pushed you back, and you immediately fell over. It seems to me like you were the one who wanted to cut ties."
Emily's face froze, and she lowered her face back.
Cedric showed surprise and motioned with his hands urgently for him to stop.
Cyril continued, "Pull yourself together and try talking to him again some time later. If you just stay weak, a lot more than this will be taken from you in the future."
Emily's body twitched a little, and a low sniffling sound could be heard.
"Alright! Emily, don't take his words close to heart. Just... stay here, vent your emotions a little, and we'll stay on guard nearby." Cedric hurriedly said and motioned for Cyril to follow him.
Cyril moved without any problems. He wasn't too interested in this situation anymore.
...
"You didn't have to be so harsh" Cedric said reproachfully on the way.
In response, Cyril only shook his head. There was something in how Emily looked at him that evoked some dormant emotions.
It almost felt like he wasn't angry at her—just venting his past frustrations.
Cyril was about to say something when he suddenly felt a tremendous amount of strength acting on his chest.
The view around him transformed into a blur as some kind of force knocked him off his feet and dragged him away.
After an incredibly disorienting couple of seconds, Cyril found the surroundings becoming clear again.
In no time at all he was transferred from a quiet playground to a secluded warehouse.
He dropped on the ground, gasping for breath as he recovered from the strike.
An annoyingly sweet but smug voice resounded at this moment. "I've told you I'll have my revenge. You shouldn't have messed with this princess!"
With this, the situation became painfully clear. The vampire princess Cyril met at the zoo returned after all.
Though Cyril never expected her to have this level of speed. He was completely incapable of seeing through it.
What made him somewhat relieved was the fact that Morpho and Tigris were left back there. He didn't have to worry for the poor tiger's safety, at least.
"Your death would still mean their death!" Rhamn, said with worry. Such was the connection between Cyril and his magic creatures.
What do you think?
