Chapter 274: The Cult (44)
The battle between D'andre and Xandros was a grand display of power, reminding the weaker caste just how weak they were compared to the powerhouse.
The simplest attacks utilized by those two were capable of killing even a Tier‑3 mage! Just their speed was even enough to slaughter a group of hundreds Tier‑3 mage in a matter of minutes.
These displays of power reminded Rowan just how strong he wanted to be.
If he was as strong as his friend when the cult arrived at his village, he would've stood his ground and drove them away.
'I will never let that happen again!'
Rowan swore to himself with so much seriousness and zeal displayed in his eyes.
He dragged his bloodied sword out of the chest of the last standing cultist.
The cultist fell on the ground in his own pool of blood, marking the victory of the weaker caste.
The surviving captives were filled with joy seeing the last of their attackers falling to his death.
Unfortunately, they could not rejoice as the fight was still not over.
"You evil cunt!"
D'andre spat out angrily as he quickly formed an archer pose, immediately, light magic shaped in the form of bow and arrow appeared and the next seconds the arrow rocketed towards Xandros who was closing the distance.
Xandros grinned and changed his flight direction to avoid getting hit by the arrow.
But that wasn't all from D'andre.
PHEW!
PHEW!
Dozens of same light magic attacks darted in Xandros direction causing him to continue changing paths, slowing down his own attack in process as he could only focus on evading his foe's attack.
D'andre's mana reserve was almost unlimited, he kept firing dozens more of those attacks and his mana reserve still appears to be in its peak stage.
Xandros on the other hand was getting super annoyed by his current position in the fight, he disliked being in the defensive position.
'Not just strong, he is also talented in combat. Too bad he refused the cult's proposal, he would've been a valuable addition to our attack force.'
Alister thought to himself while observing the battle from afar.
'He would be useful if he is dead after all, I've never tried creating a dark soldier out of a dead archmage.'
While the eldest of the dark brother was lost in his thought, the youngest was being consumed by rage.
"Ahhhh!"
Xandros's voice thundered through the sky as a strong dark foggy matter began to appear around him as he began charging towards D'andre.
The dark foggy matter acted as a shield, dispersing the light arrows, giving Xandros the opportunity to resume his attacks.
D'andre frowned as he saw his assailant charging towards him furiously.
"Armor of salvation!"
At that moment, a blinding light emitted from D'andre appeared like a smaller sun to the people watching him from below.
The blinding light lasted for about two seconds and disappeared.
Up in the sky, D'andre was clouded in an angelic white armor with wings.
Combined with his white hair, he looked like an actual angel.
'This spell burns a lot of mana to keep my defense at an insanely high percentage. I need to end this battle as soon as I can before I run out of mana.'
While it was flashy, the spell was a real mana consumer.
In order not to fall into a disadvantageous position due to the unavailability of mana, he charged towards Xandros.
BOOOM!
Light and magic clashed aggressively once again, sending an even stronger shockwave towards the earth, uprooting trees and sending everyone who failed to active a defensive spell, flying and crashing into the ground.
Rowan, Eliman, Dragun, Riela and a few other people had their defensive spells ready for such an event and weren't hurt that bad by it. As for the others, well, they were lucky enough to only incur deadly wounds and not experience actual death.
D'andre and Xandros flashed back and collided once more with ferociousness. They continued like this for the next five minutes and the devastating shockwaves did not stop coming.
The aftereffects of their attacks were able to kill the lives of Rowan with ease.
But the full power of the attacks seems to be nothing serious before the two powerhouse.
Both of them had already gotten annoyed at their inability to finish the other party.
They needed to reveal their trump card to win!
"inventory."
D'andre created a long distance between himself and his foe, using the available time, he equipped three mana potions and drank them right away.
His mana reserve returned to its peak state right away.
"Fueling up in the middle of our battle? How dare you!"
Xandros was pissed — In his perspective, that simple act by D'andre was a display of disrespect and cowardice.
He was quickly filled with rage.
Failing to think everything through like his brother.
Alister who was usually calm no matter the situation failed to keep his calm at moment.
"He is charging up for a powerful spell!"
Alister muttered with worries in his voice, his eyes widened and his mouth opened as he attempted to warn his brother from getting closer.
But it was already too late!
Time slowed down comically and the entire place went eerily silent.
Rowan and the other survivors were looking at the battle, heads lifted staring above with hopeful looks.
Xandros could be seen closing the distance with D'andre at an astonishing speed, his face was cloaked in anger and killing intent could from his blood red eyes.
D'andre on the other hand, remained calm while gazing at Xandros with a gentle smile on his face.
As seconds passed by slowly, the distance between the two powerhouse reduced drastically from meters to just a few centimeters.
Xandros hands were outstretched, about to land a devious attack on D'andre chest.
In his mind, he thought he had won seeing how his opponent failed to react on time.
A grin even started appearing on his face.
But then.
"Throne of divine light!"
What do you think?
