Chapter 1572: Chapter 99: The Dao Tribulation

“Quick, quick, quick!”

“Move this mountain over there too!”

“This mountain as well!”

“If something accidentally falls and gets ruined later, it would be a waste!”

“Ah, Martial Nephew Mo! Quickly gather up all the Spirit Beasts from the Beast Department. If any gets hurt, it’ll be a loss! Hurry, hurry, hurry!”

“Chan’er, as the master of the Spirit Plant Department, why do I have to waste so much effort persuading you? Move all the fields away immediately! If even one plot is damaged, it’ll make everyone heartbroken! How am I supposed to feel at ease while Crossing Tribulation!”

“Vice Hall Master Cui, have some Division Masters rush to organize things. The appointed Shichen is almost here; why isn’t everything cleared up yet?”

Within Wanxiang Sect, Ma Shengxu, dressed in the robes of Diwu Hall’s Hall Master, was busily overseeing his surroundings, urging the Vice Hall Masters and Ministers, completely swamped with work.

He wasn’t the only one; nearly everyone in Wanxiang Sect was on the move.

Mountains were relocated, waters diverted, fields transported, trees shifted—some of the ten thousand peaks were even being repositioned.

Even the Qi Refining cultivators within the sect were hard at work.

Despite this, Ma Shengxu was still far from satisfied with the speed of progress.

Of the three halls, neither Rende Hall nor Tianyuan Hall needed to worry about these tasks. Only Diwu Hall bore the enormous responsibility of clearing large areas of land quickly to ensure the safety of the twenty-five departments under the five divisions of Wanxiang Sect—a task of monumental importance and responsibility.

This was why he couldn’t help but pull anyone he saw into the effort.

From time to time, he glanced skyward.

Directly above Wanxiang Sect, a perfectly round, black and polished Membrane Eye could faintly be seen, steadily pulsating within the Void.

Four figures sat cross-legged around it, including Elder Ji Ying, one of the last remaining seniors of the previous generation, and the contemporaries Qi Yan, Tang Ji, and Shen Ying.

Even from a distance, one could feel the trace of transcendence—an aura exclusive to those who had achieved Immortal Ascension—radiating from them.

In Ma Shengxu’s eyes flashed a hint of envy and indignation:

“They’re just ahead of me by a little bit—after this grand event is over, I’ll Cross Tribulation in my own Taoist Field!”

While deep in thought, he spotted the newly-appointed Hall Master of Rende Hall, Han Jinyu, in the distance and immediately raised his voice:

“Jinyu… Hall Master Han!”

This Han Jinyu, a personal disciple of the sect, was of a lower generation than Ma Shengxu and had once served at Diwu Hall. However, now newly seated at Rende Hall, Ma Shengxu found himself still accustomed to calling him by his former title.

Han Jinyu, with his scholarly and refined appearance, heard Ma Shengxu’s call. Though puzzled, he dared not show any disrespect to Ma Shengxu, who was both an elder in the sect and his former superior. Despite their equal rank now, the generational gap made him deferential. He quickly flew over, gave a slight bow, and politely asked:

“Senior Hall Master Ma, is there something you need me to do?”

Out of respect, Han Jinyu intentionally addressed him as “Senior Hall Master.” However, hearing this, Ma Shengxu grew slightly displeased; his ambition to ascend to Immortal Ascension left him sensitive to any suggestion of aging. Although he had consumed life-extending Spiritual Medicine and was only in his seventeenth century—a mere youth by Immortal Ascension standards—he had no time to bicker over such matters.

He quickly said:

“I’m worried the Defense Array over at Shaoyang Mountain isn’t fully set up. Could you hurry over there to check and push things along?”

Upon hearing this, Han Jinyu’s face showed a hint of difficulty as he replied:

“I received word from the Sect Master that esteemed Taoist Friends from Longevity Sect, Youxian Temple, and the Qin Family are arriving soon to safeguard us during the tribulation. He specifically tasked me with welcoming them.”

“Perhaps you might ask one of the Vice Hall Masters from Tianyuan Hall instead?”

“You’re handling the arrival of Longevity Sect, Youxian Temple, and the Qin Family?”

Ma Shengxu paused, then shook his head repeatedly:

“The people from Tianyuan Hall are stationed at the formation to prevent rogue cultivators from wandering in at this crucial time… there have been a lot of rogue cultivators coming around in recent years.”

Han Jinyu nodded in agreement:

“Indeed, these rogue cultivators are a mixed bag. They’ve come from Huangji Continent, Tianmo Continent, and Jingyuan Continent. Although we’ve done our utmost to control the situation, there’s always a chance someone might still be hiding among them. It’s definitely necessary for the formations to be monitored.”

He then added apologetically:

“I’m truly sorry, Senior Hall Master. How about I push things along at Shaoyang Mountain after welcoming the Taoist Friends from the two sects and the Qin Family?”

Ma Shengxu sighed helplessly, knowing the Shichen was almost upon them. Waiting for Han Jinyu to return would take too much time. He simply waved his hand:

“Go handle your duties!”

Han Jinyu didn’t hesitate, giving a respectful bow before hurriedly leaving.

Ma Shengxu, not daring to delay further, rushed toward Shaoyang Mountain, where the Myriad Library was located—a classified repository of the sect that could not be allowed any vulnerability.

Upon arriving, he saw that staff from the Formation Department were still slowly setting up the formation bases around the mountain’s perimeter. He was about to call out to them when—

Suddenly, two figures flew out from the Myriad Library atop Shaoyang Mountain.

One was dressed in half-black, half-white robes, while the other was a female Cultivator, bald-headed despite her gender.

Seeing the two, Ma Shengxu didn’t dare to show any slack and quickly bowed:

“Paying respects to Senior Jiang and Senior Brother Pang.”

Pang Xiu merely nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping across the incomplete formation below as he shook his head:

“Hall Master Ma, there’s no need to set up any more formations here. With Senior Jiang and me present, nothing will happen.”

Feeling the Immortal Ascension aura emanating from both individuals, Ma Shengxu hesitated for a moment before clasping his hands in salute:

“Then I’ll head over to check on Taiyin Mountain.”

Pang Xiu nodded, watching Ma Shengxu leave.

Beside him, a voice filled with sentiment suddenly spoke:

“Who would’ve thought—he’s truly planning to establish a Taoist Field.”

Pang Xiu turned his head to see the bald-headed female Cultivator Jiang Yi surveying the surroundings, her gaze filled with complexity and emotion.

In his mind, the image of a young Taoist surfaced, and he sincerely nodded as he murmured:
