I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game

Chapter 214 - 214 214 Mysterious

Chapter 214: Chapter 214: Mysterious Chapter 214: Chapter 214: Mysterious Qiao Jiming followed her gaze and turned around, but saw the empty corridor had nothing at all.

“Who are you talking about?”

Qiao Suisui blinked, and in that instant, the apparition vanished as if she had been seeing things. She checked again, confirming that there was indeed no one where the apparition had appeared.

“No… I saw it wrong…” she said, seemingly in a daze.

Qiao Jiming noticed she was somewhat distracted and asked, “Sister, have you encountered something lately? I always feel you’re not quite happy.”

Qiao Suisui could fool others, but not Qiao Jiming. Having grown up together since childhood, he could be said to know her best.

“I…”

But just as she was about to explain, the apparition in the corridor flickered on and off along with the motion sensor light, reappearing once more.

Qiao Suisui watched in astonishment as Lanze stood at the entrance of the apartment building, seemingly trying to say something to her, but she couldn’t hear a thing.

In the blink of an eye, Lanze’s apparition flickered several times like a glitching frame, resembling a stuttering computer screen, before vanishing again.

“Ji Ming, didn’t you see it just now?”

Qiao Jiming had been searching along her line of sight the whole time. He squeezed Qiao Suisui’s somewhat cold hand and asked with curiosity, “What did you see? I didn’t notice anything unusual.”

Others couldn’t see Lanze… Could it be that only she was able to see him…

Wait, perhaps only players who had entered the game world could see him.

Qiao Suisui absentmindedly said, “Oh… it was just a rat…”

Qiao Jiming smiled and sighed, patting her back to comfort her, telling her not to be afraid. He escorted her back to the apartment, and along the way, he tried several times to speak about his own background, but Qiao Suisui was always distracted. In the end, the words reached Qiao Jiming’s lips several times but were swallowed back each time.

In the following days, Qiao Suisui didn’t see Lanze’s apparition again, but she always felt as if someone was watching her. She thought she might be overly sensitive.

That day, she had arranged to meet Guan Weizhi. Guan Weizhi had been busy with company matters lately and hadn’t been to school, so he was unaware of the incident Qiao Songfan had caused there. He was actually using work to calm himself down as his recent actions had been too rash, allowing Qiao Suisui to notice his feelings and gently expressing rejection. It was a lie to say it didn’t hurt, but he wasn’t one to give up that easily. Moreover, his parents’ mature view of love had greatly influenced him, and after adjusting for a few days, he regained his rationality. Guan Weizhi felt that it was normal for Qiao Suisui not to accept him immediately, considering their current teacher-student relationship; any normal person would feel burdened by that. What he needed to do next was to gradually make her familiar with his presence, truly enter her life, and preferably make her feel comfortable relying on him.

But Guan Weizhi didn’t know the depth of the emotions Qiao Suisui had experienced. Therefore, for her to date normally in the real world had become a difficult matter. Anyone who had received such fervent love would feel a sense of loss. However, the subtle fondness Guan Weizhi showed and his long-term, slowly permeating pursuit strategy were indeed the least likely to fail immediately; it was just a matter of how long he could persevere.

Guan Weizhi walked into the school café and saw her sitting by the window, lost in thought.

“Sorry, I’m a bit late; there was some traffic on the way.”

Qiao Suisui came back to her senses and immediately said it was okay. After he ordered his coffee, they cut straight to the chase.

“You mentioned on the phone that you wanted my help with your dad’s company?”

Qiao Suisui felt a bit ashamed, but to secure her freedom, she needed to be thick-skinned. She then detailed to Guan Weizhi the situation and difficulties her company was currently facing.

“Before, you said there was no need for my interference, but it seems the situation was not severe enough.” Guan Weizhi teased her with a smile.

“Actually, that’s not the case, I really had no intention of asking for your help with him, but he recently made a scene at school, and I couldn’t bear it anymore, so I broke off relations with my family. That’s why I’m here today, not to beg you on behalf of Qiao Songfan, but for myself. I must be honest, I used you as a bargaining chip for my freedom… I’m sorry.”

Guan Weizhi was slightly taken aback, then suddenly smiled, “Why apologize for that? It simply shows that I have assets worth utilizing. I’m glad about that.”

The two discussed some details, and as they were talking, the waiter brought over the two drinks they had ordered earlier. Suddenly, a rowdy child darted out and bumped into the waiter carrying the tray. The waiter lost balance, and it seemed like a cup of hot cocoa was about to spill onto Qiao Suisui.

Everyone, including Qiao Suisui herself, was too slow to react. But in a matter of microseconds, the trajectory of the hot cocoa changed mid-air. Instead of arcing towards Qiao Suisui as it seemed destined to, it ended up splashing against the corner of the table, spilling over Guan Weizhi’s trouser leg.

Amidst the apologies from the waiter, the cries of the child, and the scraping of chairs and tables, Guan Weizhi, who was looking at the mess on the ground, didn’t notice; the waiter, frantically apologizing and wiping his trouser leg, didn’t notice; and the café’s patrons, mostly glancing over after hearing the noise, didn’t notice… but Qiao Suisui did—
That cup of hot cocoa was meant to spill on her.

She clearly saw Lanze change the direction of the cup with his spiritual power in an instant.

Qiao Suisui sat in her chair, completely stunned.

Lanze was standing right beside the waiter, but Guan Weizhi, the waiter, and everyone present couldn’t see him.

“Suisui,” Guan Weizhi noticed her in a daze, thinking she was scared, and soothed her, “It’s okay, just go home and change your clothes.” Luckily the drink hadn’t spilled on her. He had felt the heat even through his trousers, and he estimated that his skin was probably reddened by now.

Qiao Suisui nodded, suppressing the urge to look for Lanze, and said, “Teacher Guan, shall we go back? Your clothes are dirty, and we can talk about this matter later, it’s not urgent.”

Guan Weizhi went along with her wishes and didn’t say much. He settled the bill, escorted Qiao Suisui home, and then left. Before leaving, he told her, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of your father’s company issues.”

Qiao Suisui watched his car drive away and then turned to walk briskly back into the residential complex.

Her heart was pounding with tension.

Once home and sure she was alone, Qiao Suisui took a few deep breaths and spoke to the air around her, “Lanze, I can see you, come out.”

There was no response.

“Lanze, you’re right next to me, aren’t you?”

She called his name three or four times, but no sign of Lanze appeared beside her.

“It can’t be an illusion… If the other day in the apartment building was an illusion, today it definitely wasn’t…” Qiao Suisui muttered to herself as she paced back and forth in the living room. Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, she stopped pacing and said to the air, “Lanze, if you can hear me, respond to me in any way you can.”

A few seconds later, a bag of potato chips that Lin Xixi had left unfinished the night before, abruptly fell to the ground from the coffee table.

The chips were centered on the coffee table, the living room window was closed, there was no wind—it was impossible for them to have fallen to the ground on their own.

Seeing this, Qiao Suisui covered her mouth in surprise and asked, “Where are you? Why can I sometimes see you and sometimes not?”
