Chapter 828: Mana Density
Chapter 828: Mana Density
The density of mana within the cave increased twofold. Moreover, it would continue to increase until the runic formation functioned at full capacity.
Not just the cave, but the entire mountain would gradually be filled with abundant mana as the runic formation absorbed the mana from the surroundings and gathered it in this region.
Needless to say, all the beasts on the mountain would greatly benefit from it, most of all Berger.
But there was still one thing that Adam needed to take care of.
The activation of the runic formation just now had resulted in all the runes he had carved across the mountain to light up in a highly ostentatious manner.
In the treacherous lands of the Murky Mountains, such a thing meant one thing and one thing only.
Danger!
He walked out of the cave entrance and stood before one of the main anchor points in the innermost ring.
After weaving a complex set of hand seals for about a minute, he pressed his hands to the ground.
A wave of energy radiated outward from him at the center, and spread all across the mountain.
The youth had just activated the concealment function that he had added to the mana-gathering formation. Once this function was activated, the tens of thousands of bright runes etched on the mountain slowly dimmed down before completely disappearing.
The mountain seemingly returned to normal, yet the runic formation was ever-active, constantly drawing mana from the surroundings.
“Alright, that should do it.” Adam rose to his feet and turned towards Blackie with a smile. “What do you think? Pretty good, eh?”
“This is…” Blackie was at a loss for words.
He could already feel the drastic change in the density of mana around him. And if it was like the raven-haired youth had said, the density would only increase until the formation reached full capacity.
“This will greatly help Berger.” Blackie felt immesnely grateful for Adam.
The wolf had been guarding the cave entrance for a decade now, acting as Berger’s protector.
He, more than anyone else, knew just how difficult it was for the gnome to advance, considering the deep injuries he had sustained throughout his life.
Blackie also knew that at the same time that Berger had gone into isolation, Adam had sent him something that would help in advancing. What it was, the wolf did not know.
But with the mana-gathering runic formation, he felt like Berger’s chances of advancing to the next stage had increased exponentially.
In the arcane world, what was the definition of practicing mindfulness?
It was the process of extracting the mana from the surroundings with a peaceful state of mind.
So, what would happen if the mana in the surroundings increased several-fold?
The Magus would be able to extract even more mana from around them, allowing them to rapidly advance.
It was a known fact that a Magus would see great improvements in their speed of advancement if they were in a place that had abundant mana.
After all, this was the main difference between the planets in the Greater Universe and planets such as Tron in the Outer Universe.
Of course, it was impossible to bridge the gap between the mana density in both of these places.
But that was besides the point.
With the help of the mana-gathering formation, Adam had essentially turned this unassuming piece of land in the Murky Mountains into an arcane haven for a Magus!
He speculated that the only places that probably had more mana than this mountain would be the portal under Hannes City, and other similar portals scattered throughout the planet.
But this was because these portals led to a higher plane of existence, allowing the mana from that place to leak out and increase the density of mana around the portals here.
With a wave of his hand, Adam conjured the large wooden trunk that Blackie had given to him.
He looked at the wolf while pointing at the five Grade 4 ingredients lined across the walls of the cave. “When the energy within those magical ingredients is exhausted, you must replace them with new ingredients.”
The magical ingredients used in the runic formation needed to be changed at fixed intervals. Or else, once the energy was drawn out from them, the runic formation would cease to function.
A large-scale runic formation such as the one Adam had carved required an equally large expenditure of energy.
And this energy could be only derived from other items that contained energy. After all, energy could not be created or destoryed, only transfered from one source to another.
Such was the law of the universe.
In a planet such as Torn, the energy to charge such large-scale runic formations could only be found in high-quality magical ingredients found in nature.
This planet was incapable of producing resources that the Magi in the Greater Universe would use to activate large-scale runic formations or even ritual magic.
The mana here was simply too sparse.
This was also the reason why the celestial energy, harnessed during planetary alignments, was essential to activating the large-scale teleportation portal on the moon.
Because, once again, Tron was simply incapable of producing the resources typically required to activate such mechanisms.
Everything would have been so much more convenient if this place could produce mana crystals, Adam thought with a wry smile.
But he had to make do with what he had, and he believed that he did a decent job of it.
“Understood.” Blackie solemnly nodded. “Is there anything else I need to be aware of?”
Adam thought for a moment before shaking his head. “No, that should be all. I made the control disk easy to use, so there shouldn’t be any issues.”
He paused for a moment before adding, “All you have to do is change all the Grade 3 and Grade 4 magical ingredients in a timely manner, and make sure the runic formation never runs out of energy.”
Blackie nodded. He then approached the youth and warmly nudged his head against his chest. “Thank you, Adam.”
The youth put his arms around the wolf’s neck and leaned into his embrace. “No need to thank me. We are family. This is the least I can do.”
Valerain, unwilling to be left out, jumped atop the black wolf and hugged his large head. “Me too! Me too!”
Now that his work here was done, it was time for Adam to finally leave.
Although he would have liked to meet the old man, he knew better than to enter through the stone doors and disturb his advancement.
They would meet when the time was right.
After Adam bid farewell to Blackie, he turned to the eldery Magus, who stood silently at the entrance of the cave.
He walked towards the old man and respectfully stated, “My Lord, you said you wished to talk with me.”
The elderly Magus remained silent for a long time, his gaze distant and unreadable. Then, he slowly turned towards the youth, a strange light flickering in his eyes.
His next words made Adam freeze in place.
“What do you know about the Greater Universe?”
