Chapter 33: Who Is Really Not Clear-Headed?
Time went back to a little earlier.
Yan pulled Bai Xuerou to a room at the end of the second-floor corridor, pinning this strange "master" against the wall with a furrowed brow.
"Bai Xuerou, what exactly are you doing now? Can you please be clear-headed?!"
When Yan spoke these words, she was growling, seemingly triggered by something Bai Xuerou had just done.
However, facing this angry "maid" before her, Bai Xuerou still displayed an innocent smile, like a pure white flower. Yet the words she spoke in her sweet voice sounded so terrifying.
"What am I doing? I don't know. After all, I don't know what you all are doing either. And you say I should be clear-headed?" Bai Xuerou suddenly laughed, her crimson eyes staring at the white-haired woman before her.
"Haven't I never been clear-headed since I was born? Why don't you ask yourself if you really understand what you want to do?"
As she said this, Bai Xuerou suddenly exerted force, pushing Yan onto the bed and reversing their positions. She then used one hand to pin down Yan's hands and used the other to pull up her own sleeve.
When Bai Xuerou pulled up her sleeve, a horrifying bloody scar appeared on her arm, identical to Yan's.
Seeing Bai Xuerou's wound, Yan seemed to have anticipated it, turning her face away and completely giving up struggling.
Seeing Yan's reaction, Bai Xuerou's lips twitched slightly. She then suddenly became furious, tearing open Yan's sleeve to look at the wound that matched her own perfectly.
"I've said it before, you're actually like me, we're both hypocrites! No... I'm not, you are! All of this happened because of you, but now I have to pay the price!"
Bai Xuerou screamed at Yan with all her might, crimson magical power surging wildly around her body.
"You're never clear-headed in anything you do. When you were a nun and met the White Night Witch, you mindlessly followed her and became a witch's servant. When you fell in love with the White Night Witch, you wanted to kill the Rainbow Witch who was competing for her affection, but at the last moment, you showed mercy and let her escape, which led to White Ye later being hunted by a magician who suddenly appeared."
When Bai Xuerou said these things, Yan's eyes widened instantly. She looked at Bai Xuerou on top of her in disbelief, completely unprepared for the fact that Bai Xuerou knew about her past world.
"And later, because you were afraid and avoided responsibility, you pushed all the blame onto your lover, letting White Ye bear the attacks from both the magician and the Rainbow Witch. After those people left, you came back, used your magic power to 'devour' your lover's corpse and then gave birth again. It was at that time that you became the Red Moon Witch, and I was born. But when your daughter was born, because the white night appeared again, you unhesitatingly abandoned the daughter you had painstakingly given birth to by the roadside. Honestly, at that time, I really didn't know what you wanted to do."
"No... I... I didn't... I didn't abandon Anan..."
Just as Yan tried to refute, she was directly interrupted by Bai Xuerou.
"Shut up! If you couldn't let go of Anan, you wouldn't have thrown her away! And you wouldn't have acted with me after I found the daughter. At first, I thought if you truly loved Ye Ye or Anan, you wouldn't be so confused. But later I realized that what you cherish most is yourself. Everything you do is for your own benefit."
As if struck at a painful point, Yan desperately shook her head, trying to resist, but how could her strength match that of a witch?
"Now you want to help Bai Anan and Herr escape, is it because you're afraid White Ye will come back and blame you? Or did you go out and were discovered by people from the 'Courtyard', so you plan to abandon me to save yourself?"
"No... I just saw that Anan was too pitiful... I just didn't want her to be bullied by you anymore..."
"Am I not pitiful?!" At Yan's words, Bai Xuerou cried out in grievance. As a high and mighty witch, she was actually crying at this moment.
"From the moment I was born, you treated me like a servant to serve you. You said the one in your belly was our mutual lover, called White Ye Ye, a very powerful witch. I believed it, so I escaped with you for a full ten months. But because of your fear of death, you threw away the person I had worked so hard to protect. I had never even seen that White Night Witch, only in your words and photos, yet I had to clean up your mess. From beginning to end... I just wanted to see that lover you said was the best..."
After saying the last sentence, Bai Xuerou's body suddenly lost all strength. She rolled to Yan's side and fell into a deep sleep.
Yan didn't worry about Bai Xuerou. Instead, she hurriedly changed her clothes and rushed back downstairs. When she saw Bai Anan chatting happily with the two teachers, she breathed a sigh of relief.
But thinking about Bai Xuerou's state just now made her want to speed up her plan.
After all, it seemed Bai Xuerou might very likely drag her down to die together.
Yan didn't want to die. She still wanted to live well with her daughter.
She had done too many wrong things and needed to do something to make amends.
Back to the present, after returning the two teachers to the human city, Yan didn't immediately leave the city to go back but decided to wander around the downtown area.
Like last time when she came out and saw Herr's missing person notice, the search area had narrowed down to the forest where she and Bai Xuerou were located. Plus, with Bai Xuerou starting to go against her, she began planning to escape from Bai Xuerou to avoid herself and Bai Anan being affected.
This time, as if confirming her suspicion, she saw that the information on the wall where Herr's missing person notice was posted had been updated again. This time, it even accurately pinpointed a location just a few hundred meters from the mansion.
"What? So fast?"
Yan didn't know what had happened outside, but she had no time to ask anyone now. She quickly drove back to the remote forest.
Now she was going to make a deal with Herr, who had been brought here, for both her own sake and her daughter's safety.
She couldn't care about what Bai Xuerou wanted to do anymore. She needed to quickly tell Herr, who was most likely to escape, the secrets of the mansion. This way, she might still gain forgiveness and protection from the Courtyard.
Shortly after Yan left, a twin-tailed girl leaped down from the rooftop above the wall where the posters had just been placed, looking at the direction Yan had gone with a slight curl of her lips.
"Finally found it. I didn't expect the most important clue would be with a little girl..."
What do you think?
