Hunting plates(4)

Hunting plates(4)

Eventually Gaia busted into the underground and to no surprise grunted in displeasure as it was only slightly warmer than topside. I wasted no time at all walking over to the wall of the underground where I saw the plate and placing my hand on it. I channeled my earth manipulation ability and the stone parted in front of my hand to reveal the plate that simple fell right out of the hole. It was a dark purple color and I recognized the energy it had immediately from near constant contact with it in my daily life, Ghost type energy.-

"The other side of this world was given by the Original one to it's raging third."

'Given? No, it was Giratina's prison to contain it's madness. Can't expect whoever created these plates to know that however.' I thought as I read the inscription on the back of the Spooky plate. Holding this plate though I had an odd expression because for the first time I possessed the plates for both typings one of my pokemon had, Hades. Dark and Ghost typings were rare in this world with Spiritomb and Sableye being the only ones to possess both.-

Hades even as a legion variant of the Spiritomb species was no exception to this and if anything held far more sway over the typings than any normal Spiritomb. Until now I had not been able to allow any of my pokemon to go all out in training with a plate as the secondary typing plate for them was missing still, that changes now. With both plates for Hades secured it could now go all out with training as it wouldn't lopside itself in the process. Something interesting to note was that when held by a pokemon the plates didn't obey conventional rules about space at all and seemed to shrink or grow as needed without doing so at the same time, it was kinda screwy.-

Despite what the games made it seem a pokemon could in fact hold more than one item at a time though in official matches held items were either banned or limited to one. Hades seemed almost happy to receive the Spooky plate in addition to the dread plate it already held and hissed in satisfaction. Not that I could blame it as unlike my other pokemon Hades rarely got to battle for what should be obvious reasons at this point.-

Due to this it had few things to occupy it's mind which for an absolutely psychotic ghost was not the best thing. With the plates though it could focus on improving it's power when not violently tearing apart anyone unfortunate enough to have it sicked on by me. As it's smoky form was comprised of ghost and dark type energies it didn't even need much action to feel the difference the plates granted it and adapt to it. That was what it did as my other pokemon scattered as I and Gaia got to searching this part of the underground for more plates.-

As an added bonus for Gaia eating all the rare resources and gemstones found down here worked to accelerate her transformation caused by her divinity. To be honest though the changes were mostly minor and almost entirely cosmetic which I supposed made sense given how Ho Ho looked suspiciously like a Fearow. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the original Ho Ho was in fact a Fearow before it reached godhood. This did make me wonder whether Gaia was closer to that very end goal than I was or if I simply hadn't had divinity long enough to see similar changes.-

Whatever the case I spent the next week here in this part of the underground and only that long because there was simply not that many plates here. Even after scouring the whole place with my x-ray vision I only found a single other plate, the Sky plate.

"The being poured the remains of its powers into stone and buried it deep."

I frowned at this inscription because it hinted that Arceus was the one who made the plates and scattered them below the ground.

If that had actually been the case the plate wouldn't refer to it so impersonally. Don't get me wrong here I was one hundred percent certain Arceus helped in the creation of the plates for some reason but it definitely wasn't the sole contributor. Too much information on the plates was plain wrong for that to be the case. No, someone from after the fall of Giratina with incorrect and incomplete information was responsible. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why however as the plates were hidden away instead of used as tools so what was even the point?-

'Perhaps they helped quell some sort of destructive event and now simply just exist after completing their job?' I thought as I sat next to the fire I had burning at my campsite. 'You are gathering the fragments of the creators power I see.' A voice spoke in my head as Uxie floated over from the lake. "They are useful for training my pokemon faster." I said without technically lying. I certainly wasn't going to spill the beans that I was really gathering them to get an evolution token. 'Indeed, be wary of losing your way on this path for each step is treacherous.'

'The fragments can show the way for the physical side of things but the spiritual component is far more difficult to grasp and ultimately also the most important.' Uxie said with a calmly. "Why are you here anyways? Not that I mind the company but you three are not exactly known to be the most sociable of beings." I said curiously. 'A misunderstanding. It is not that we reject interaction but that we rarely find any who visit our lakes to be worth interacting with. You are different in many ways that make you an exception and worth speaking to.' Uxie said casually.-

I thought about it for a moment and nodded in agreement, at the level of gods it made sense that the criteria for interaction would be more strict. 'Especially after Giratina fell.' I thought darkly. Getting friendly or attached to something you knew was going to more likely than not fade away in the sands of time only made the parting all the more painful.
